The main aim of this beautifully illustrated book, covering the identification and control of diseases of cucurbits, is to enable the reader quickly to diagnose parasitic and non-parasitic conditions and to give valuable information on the methods of treatment to combat them. Containing over 470 high quality colour illustrations, this superb new atlas covers cucumbers, watermelons, courgettes, squash and pumpkins, among others. For each, diseases of the foliage, roots, neck, stalk and fruit are addressed.
Organised for maximum ease of use, the book incorporates two sections. The first is a diagnostic tool devised to help the user observe and identify the diseases. The second part deals with control once identification has been made and contains useful data on each parasitic micro-organism, their biological characteristics and methods of treatment to be used. As well as immediate measures, recommendations are also included on prevention of the disease recurring in the next crop.
