Bringing together a wealth of experience in teaching, research and clinical practice, the authors have produced a concise evidence-based guide to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatological and related musculoskeletal disorders. The first section, approximately 25% of the book, outlines principles and the necessary clinical skills, ranging from basic science, physical examination and history, to signs, investigations, injection techniques and classification of rheumatological conditions.

The central section (approximately 60%) contains 100 case presentations illustrated by clinical colour photos and imaging with detailed explanations. Topics covered include autoimmune rheumatic diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, bone disease, mechanical disorders, soft tissue, cancer, infections, chronic pain and much more. There is a summary page for each major condition. The interface between primary and hospital care is addressed.

The final section deals with data interpretation, such as X-rays, dermatomes and autoantibodies. The rapid review will appeal to young doctors/residents in rheumatology and general medicine; primary care physicians, physical therapists and related professionals, senior medical students.
